a second collective of citizens formed to oppose the giant Imeris

The most recent is called Let’s save Razac and Bassin de la Cole (1) during a meeting organized in Thiviers on Wednesday 10 July, which brought together (according to the organizers) about 80 people.

His name resonates Razac, a place called Thiviers that could host one of Imeris’ future quarries and also to the first collective created not far from there, in March 2023: Let’s save Lempzours and Cole Valley. Both fear the impact of their future careers on their daily lives: noise pollution, degradation of landscapes, loss of real estate value, etc.

Although the public inquiry into the Thiberian project is due to end on Wednesday 24 July, members of the Sauvegardons Razac et le bassin de la Cole believe they have not been informed enough and are “calling for a real democratic debate on this project. The future of (their) territory”.

They are also calling on local people to mobilize and write to the commissioner of inquiry before July 24, demanding that the public inquiry be postponed and the meeting with Imerys representatives and local elected officials be postponed.

In “state of emergency” Save Razac and Cole Basin have organized three meetings: two meetings at Thiviers town hall to meet with the commissioner of inquiry for the Razac project, this Thursday, July 18 from 9 am to noon and Wednesday, July 24 from 2 pm to 5:00 p.m. , also on Sunday, July 21, from 5:00 p.m., a walk to the stream of Pierrefiche, which, according to the collective, is “threatened by the project” (meeting in the church square from Pierrefiche to Thiviers).
